Personal Development How to Speak like the Top 1% (according to entrepreneur Marie Forleo)

Facing the Fear of Public Speaking

Public speaking ranks as one of the top fears for professionals worldwide, but it doesn’t have to paralyze us. I came across a fantastic resource from Marie Forleo that delivers practical strategies for anyone looking to improve their communication skills and confidence on stage or in front of a group. It’s short, clear, and full of high-value insights.

Here are three takeaways I believe can elevate any professional, no matter your level:

  • Reframe your nerves: Instead of fighting anxiety, recognize it as energy that can be channeled into passion and presence.
  • Be intentional with words: Avoid filler language or self-sabotaging disclaimers (“I’m not great at this…”). Speak with clarity and confidence.
  • Prepare with purpose: Practice your delivery in front of people or even a camera, not just in your head. Preparation builds freedom and authenticity.

If public speaking is an area you want to grow in, this video is worth your time and attention. It’s a reminder that communication is not just a skill — it’s a career and life multiplier. Click the link for the full podcast episode!

3P’s – Purpose, Passion, & Potential

Doing More Through Less

One of the greatest myths in our achievement-driven culture is that doing more creates better results. Research consistently shows the opposite: when we focus on fewer, aligned activities, we actually achieve more.

A Harvard Business Review article on productivity highlights that professionals who intentionally limit their goals and focus on high-leverage tasks accomplish significantly more than those who spread themselves thin. Similarly, author Greg McKeown’s Essentialism reminds us that “if you don’t prioritize your life, someone else will.” The key is alignment — identifying the actions that move multiple goals forward at once.

For example, a 30-minute daily walk isn’t just exercise. It can double as time for podcast learning, stress release, and even voice-note brainstorming for your next big idea. That’s one activity serving three purposes. This is one example of why I exercise and do hard things.

In this next season, let’s celebrate doing more with less with a walk, a book, a smaller to-do list, and maybe a cup of pumpkin spice latte! (But seriously, is it fall yet?)
